How to Brew V60 Coffee

Ingredients / Equipment
  • V60 dripper funnel

  • V60 paper filter

  • Gooseneck kettle (for controlled pouring)

  • Coffee grinder

  • Coffee beans (medium-fine grind recommended)

  • Scale and timer

  • Chemex cup or serving cup

Step-by-Step Guide
1. Prepare the Filter
  • Fold the paper filter and place it in the V60 dripper.

  • Rinse the filter with hot water to remove paper taste and preheat the dripper.

  • Discard the rinse water.

2. Add the Coffee
  • Place the V60 dripper and cup on the scale and zero it.

  • Add 15 grams of medium-fine ground coffee (adjust according to taste).

  • Gently shake the dripper to level the coffee bed.

3. Start the Brewing Timer
  • Place the dripper on the scale with the serving cup underneath and zero the scale.

4. Begin Pouring
  • Pour approximately 50 grams of hot water evenly over the grounds to saturate them.

  • Allow the coffee to bloom for 30–45 seconds.

5. Continue Pouring
  • Pour the remaining water in a controlled, circular motion from the center outward.

  • Avoid pouring directly on the filter paper’s edges.

  • Pour in stages until you reach the desired total water volume.

6. Complete the Brewing
  • Allow all the water to drip through the grounds.

  • Total brewing time should be 2–3 minutes.

  • Adjust grind size if brewing is too fast (use finer) or too slow (use coarser).

Tips
  • Experiment with different coffee beans and grind sizes to find your ideal taste.

  • A gooseneck kettle helps maintain control over pour speed and direction.
