How to Brew V60 Coffee Like a Pro

V60 brewing is one of the most popular pour-over methods among specialty coffee lovers because it gives you a clean, balanced cup with clear flavors. In this guide, you’ll learn the step-by-step method to achieve the best results every time.

Ingredients & Required Tools

  • V60 dripper

  • Paper filter

  • Gooseneck kettle for controlled pouring

  • Coffee grinder

  • Coffee beans (medium-fine grind)

  • Scale and timer

  • Serving cup or coffee server (Chemex or any suitable server)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Filter

Fold the paper filter and place it inside the V60, then rinse it well with hot water.
Rinsing removes the paper taste and preheats the dripper and cup.
Discard the rinse water.

2. Add the Coffee

Place the V60 on the scale and add 15 grams of medium-fine ground coffee.
Gently shake the dripper to level the coffee bed.

3. Zero the Scale & Get Ready

Press Tare on the scale to reset it and get everything ready for pouring.

4. Bloom Phase

Start the timer and pour 50 grams of hot water over the coffee.
Make sure the grounds are fully saturated.
Let the coffee bloom for 30–45 seconds.
This step allows gases to escape and improves extraction.

5. Main Pour

After blooming, begin pouring in slow, circular motions:

  • Pour from the center outward

  • Avoid touching the filter walls

  • Continue pouring in stages until you reach the total water amount
(Usually 240–250 grams of water for 15g of coffee.)

6. Complete the Extraction

Allow all the water to drip through completely.
Total brew time should be 2 to 3 minutes.

  • If the brew drips too fast → use a finer grind next time

  • If it drips too slowly → use a coarser grind

7. Enjoy Your Coffee

Remove the dripper, serve your coffee, and enjoy a clear, well-balanced cup.

FOMO Tip:

Try different coffee beans and grind sizes until you find the perfect flavor that suits you.
